When is Nwaran Puja Performed?

Traditionally, Nwaran Puja is performed on the 11th day after birth.
In some cases, families may conduct it on the 9th day for girls and the 11th day for boys.
If the puja is delayed, it can be done on an auspicious day determined by a priest.

How is Nwaran Puja Performed?

The ceremony is usually conducted at home or in a temple, led by a priest:

Purification Rituals – The baby is bathed and dressed in new clothes to symbolize purity.
Havan & Mantras – Sacred fire offerings (havan) and Vedic chants are performed to bless the child.
Astrological Name Selection – The priest suggests a name based on the birth chart.

In Nepali and North Indian traditions, the name is written in rice grains as a symbolic gesture.
